Silicon Valley:  Zero Defects International [ZDI] has announced the renewed and improved availability of several test-related services for  printed circuit board assemblies [PCBAs]. These are in addition to their existing PCBA  flying-probe test services. The initial new service is that of test program generation for users of  flying-probe testers. Companies which own one of several platforms can now out-source test programming to ZDI.

Reverse engineering is another service. Companies needing  PCBAs which may have been built some time ago can use ZDI to generate and provide the data needed to produce a PCBA with the same functionality as the original product. Failure analysis is the final renewed service . A PCBA which has failed functional test can usually be repaired but it is necessary to know the exact failure mode.  Having this information enables repair and provides  feedback for ongoing PCBA process improvement.
