TAIWAN - PCB makers in Taiwan are showing solid sales in PCB production for the automotive market, with Chin-Poon Industrial increasing its manufacturing of PCBs for automobile security applications, and Unitech PCB already seeing strong sales in this segment.

Chin-Poon supplies PCBs for use for automobile on-board computer and brake systems. Industry reports indicate that sales to automobile customers are likely to grow by more than 35% in 2008.

Unitech focuses its automobile PCB technology on engine control systems, steering, and telematics applications, as well as GPS. The company reportedly markets the majority of its auto PCB products to customers in Japan and Germany.

Unitech indicated that Continental is estimated to increase its purchases from the company by over 15% this year to become Unitech's second-largest customer. Overall GPS PCB sales are expected to weaken somewhat, due to market competition
