ANDOVER, MA -- MKS Instruments has made an offer to acquire Atotech, Reuters is reporting, citing confidential sources.

Atotech went public in February and would extend MKS's products for making semiconductors and printed circuit boards by adding a major developer of specialty chemicals.

Atotech has not indicated it is open to a sale, the report said, and terms of a possible deal were not disclosed.
