TOKYO – Zuken reported year to date revenue of 19.8 billion yen (US$188.6 million) through the end of its fiscal third quarter, down 3.9% year-over-year.

For the three quarters ended Dec. 31, the ECAD software company reported net income of 1.64 million yen, down 30% from a year ago.

Zuken cited a slower business environment due to Covid-19, which affected automotive and industrial customers.

Japan, Zuken’s largest market, saw sales fall 4.3% on lower demand for printed circuit board design software. Operating income fell 36% for the period.

US sales were up 1.8% from a year ago, and operating income rose 12%. European sale were down 4.1%, and operating income fell 60%.

Asia, Zuken’s smallest market, saw sales fall 5.7% and operating income drop 9.6%.

Zuken said it is developing a solution business to solve the problem of improving design and manufacturing efficiency. The primary markets are electronics, automobile-related and industrial equipment manufacturing.
