BENGALURU, INDIA – Wipro Electronics plans to begin operations at its new PCB facility in Doddaballapura, Bengaluru North within the next nine months. The investment totals ₹500 crore ($60 million), according to CEO Neeraj Pandit, who announced the timeline at the 28th Bengaluru Tech Summit. Construction is expected to conclude in six months, followed by production ramp-up shortly after.
The project is notable for India’s electronics ecosystem, where domestic PCB manufacturing remains limited. India’s PCB market is valued at about $600 million annually, yet roughly 85% of that demand is met through imports, highlighting ongoing supply-chain dependence.
Industry speakers emphasized that India continues to rely heavily on overseas design and fabrication.
Wipro’s electronics business aims to expand local capability through this new capacity addition in Karnataka, which is positioning itself as a regional hub for advanced electronics and semiconductor manufacturing.
The state also announced a deep-tech investment framework combining ₹663 crore ($80 million) in government funding with approximately ₹443 crore ($53 million) from private venture capital firms.
