ATLANTA — The Electronic Components Industry Association today announced new guidance for noncancellable, nonreturnable components.

The intent is to help clarify the use of the NCNR process in the electronic component authorized channel by publishing updated industry guidelines and communicating these best practices to the industry, the trade group said today.

Electronic components authorized channel partners have been dealing with an expanding range of supply chain challenges across regions and around the world.

“After looking into current practices, the work group concluded that the component supply chain needed to abridge the document,” said Don Elario, VP of industry practices, ECIA. “Manufacturers should have a process to identify and notify their authorized distributors of NC/NR product at the time of quote, with the process applied consistently across all a manufacturer’s product/marketing departments and authorized distributors,” he continued. “We believe by publishing and disseminating these guidelines, we can help drive efficiencies for transactions across the supply chain.”

The ECIA Councils assigned the GIPC (Global Industry Practices Committee) to review the NC/NR document published by NEDA in 2002. A work group was formed composed of distributors, manufacturers, and manufacturers’ representatives.

The document includes an explanation of the need for the fuidelines, as well as a sample form that can be used for the transactions. The guidelines are available to ECAI members and nonmembers and can be downloaded at https://www.ecianow.org/issues-practices.
