CLEVELAND -- OM Group today announced sales at its Specialty Chemicals were flat for its third quarter ended Sept. 30.

Specialty Chemicals recorded an operating profit of $8.6 million, down from $10.2 million a year ago, on net sales of $81.5 million. The company took $1 million in charges related to headcount reductions in Specialty Chemicals.

The unit makes chemistries for printed circuit board fabrication.

Overall third quarter net sales were $263 million, essentially flat compared to a year ago. Adjusted pro forma EBITDA was higher in the current quarter compared to the third quarter of 2013, driven by favorable mix and timing in Battery Technologies and lower corporate expenses, partially offset by lower profitability in Magnetic Technologies driven by lower sales and unfavorable mix.
