TAIPEI – Taiwanese legislators are reviewing amendments to the national Toxic Chemical Substances Control Act following a deadly fire at a domestic printed circuit board shop last month.

Lawmakers are looking to tighten regulations following the blaze at Chin Poon that killed eight people, including six rescue workers.

Governmental agencies were compelled to submit chemical management plans for review by the legislature. The proposed amendments would create a national board for chemical management. New rules would cover handling and storage of toxics and non-toxic chemicals.
